Partners for Life workshop
Helping reverse depression among high school students
Why the need for such a program?
For 25 years, our Partners for Life workshop has been raising awareness of teen depression at school to young people aged 14 to 18, as well as to parents, teachers and professionals in the field.
A workshop developed with a committee of experts
Created by a committee of renowned social workers and experts, including Dr. Patricia Garel and Dr. François Maranda, child psychiatrists at the CHU Sainte-Justine, the workshop delivers support for teenagers by communicating thorough content.
What will teens learn?
The workshop helps teens learn about:
- The importance of being in good mental health
- The difference between having the blues and being depressed
- The signs and symptoms of depression
- Available resources for getting help for themselves or for someone else
Adapted to the reality of today’s teens, these tools help young people demystify depression and better understand how to act when signs of it appear.
A program validated and recognized by the scientific community
Two studies conducted in 2000 by Dr. Richard Boyer of the Centre de Recherche de L’institut Universitaire en Santé Mentale de Montréal demonstrated that the program helped significantly increase young people’s knowledge about depression and allowed them to be more open to seeking help.
Free workshops for parents and school staff
To maximize the program’s impact, our workshop is offered for free to parents and school staff. See what online support tools we have put in place for adults and parents of a depressed teenager.
